sugar loaf
Conical refined mass
A sugar loaf is a cone-shaped mass of refined sugar, the traditional form in which sugar was sold before granulated sugar became standard.
The shape—a tall, tapering cone with a rounded top—lent its name to conical hills and mountains worldwide: Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro.
The term also describes anything with this distinctive pointed form.
