stuff-up

A royal mess

A stuff-up is a mistake or blunder, especially one that causes problems: The scheduling stuff-up meant three people showed up for the same appointment.

Primarily Australian and British slang, it's the noun form of the phrasal verb stuff up, meaning to botch or bungle something: They really stuffed up the renovation.
