studio band
Recording-only musical group
A studio band is a group of musicians assembled specifically to record music, rather than to perform live.
Studio bands may back a featured artist, provide music for film or television, or record under a collective name without touring.
The members are often skilled session players who work across multiple projects: The Wrecking Crew was LA's legendary studio band in the 1960s.
