strong beat
Rhythmic stress point
In music, a strong beat is an accented beat that receives natural emphasis within a measure—typically the first beat (the downbeat) and sometimes the third in 4/4 time.
Dancers and listeners instinctively feel strong beats as points of arrival or stress: The snare hits on the strong beats.
Weak beats fall between them.
