stop-action
Frame-by-frame filming technique
Stop-action is a filmmaking technique where the camera is stopped, something in the scene is changed, and filming resumes—creating the illusion of sudden transformation or movement.
The term often describes animation made by photographing objects one frame at a time, repositioning them slightly between shots: The stop-action dinosaurs in the old monster movies still have charm.
Also called stop-motion.
