state emblems
Government identity marks
State emblems are official symbols adopted by a government to represent a state, province, or nation.
These typically include a flag, seal, and motto, but often extend to designated plants, animals, and other icons: The bald eagle is among the most recognized of American state emblems.
Each U.S. state maintains a collection of such symbols—state bird, state flower, state tree—established by legislation.
