stage hypnotist
Audience mind-controller
A stage hypnotist is an entertainer who performs hypnosis on audience volunteers as part of a theatrical show.
The act typically involves inducing a trance state and giving suggestions that produce amusing or surprising behaviors—making subjects cluck like chickens, forget their names, or act out scenarios.
Whether participants are genuinely hypnotized or simply playing along remains debated, but stage hypnotism has been a popular form of entertainment since the 19th century.
