special sessions
Unscheduled legislative gatherings
Special sessions are meetings of a legislative body called outside its regular schedule, typically by an executive like a governor or president.
They address urgent matters that can't wait for the normal session: budget crises, natural disasters, or pressing legislation.
The agenda is usually limited to specific issues named in the call: The governor convened a special session on redistricting.
