special issues
Dedicated thematic publications
Special issues are dedicated editions of periodicals—typically academic journals or magazines—focused on a single theme, topic, or guest editor's vision rather than the publication's usual mix of content.
Publishers use special issues to explore subjects in depth, commemorate events, or showcase emerging research areas.
The journal devoted a special issue to climate migration.
In legal contexts, special issues refer to specific factual questions submitted to a jury for determination, distinct from general verdicts.
