social care
Help for vulnerable
Social care encompasses the support services that help people with daily living needs—the elderly, disabled, or those with chronic conditions who require assistance beyond medical treatment.
It includes help with bathing, dressing, eating, and household tasks, whether provided at home or in residential facilities.
Distinguished from healthcare, social care addresses quality of life rather than curing illness: She arranged social care for her father after his stroke.
The term is more common in British than American English.
