snuff movie
Filmed actual killing
A snuff movie is a film purporting to show an actual murder, made for entertainment or profit.
The term emerged in the 1970s amid moral panic, though documented examples of commercially distributed snuff films remain essentially nonexistent.
The concept persists in urban legend and as a horror subgenre featuring fictional depictions: The plot involves detectives tracking down a snuff film ring.
