skill issue

Lack of ability

A skill issue is a failure attributed to someone's lack of ability rather than external factors—a way of saying the problem is you, not the game, tool, or situation.

The phrase emerged from gaming culture as a dismissive response to complaints about difficulty: You died on that level? Skill issue.

It has spread to general use as playful or cutting mockery when someone struggles with something others find manageable.
