skate videos

Skate videos are filmed recordings showcasing skateboarding, typically featuring riders performing tricks and navigating urban terrain.

The genre emerged in the 1980s and shaped skateboarding culture profoundly—introducing new tricks, elevating particular skaters to fame, and establishing aesthetic conventions.

Professional skate videos from brands serve as promotional material, while amateur footage floods social media.

The term usually implies an emphasis on style and soundtrack as much as technical skill: We spent the summer making skate videos at the parking garage.
