single-tracking

One track, both directions

Single-tracking is giving full attention to one task or conversation at a time, the opposite of multitasking.

The term comes from railroads, where a single-track line allows trains to move in only one direction at once.

Someone who's single-tracking focuses completely on what's in front of them: I'm single-tracking right now—can we talk later?

It can suggest either admirable focus or an inability to juggle competing demands.
