A show cat is a cat bred, groomed, and entered in competitions where judges evaluate against breed standards for conformation, coat quality, and temperament.
The term also describes cats that exemplify their breed's ideal characteristics, whether or not they actually compete: She's a purebred Persian, but we keep her as a pet, not a show cat.
