shoulder separation
Dislocated joint injury
Shoulder separation is an injury to the ligaments connecting the collarbone to the shoulder blade, typically caused by a fall or direct blow to the shoulder.
Despite the name, it affects the acromioclavicular joint rather than the ball-and-socket joint most people think of as the shoulder.
Severity ranges from mild stretching to complete ligament tears: He's out six weeks with a shoulder separation.
