short summer
Fleeting sunny season
A short summer is a period of warm weather that arrives briefly outside the main summer season.
Most often appears in compounds: Indian summer (warm spell in autumn), St.
Martin's summer (similar, around November 11), or St.
Luke's summer (mid-October).
These describe unexpected warmth after cold has seemingly set in, a last respite before winter.
