shoo-in

Certain to win

A shoo-in is someone or something virtually certain to win or succeed.

The term comes from horse racing, where a shoo-in was a horse expected to win so easily that it could be "shooed in" to victory: She's a shoo-in for the promotion.

Often misspelled "shoe-in."
