shlepping

Dragging stuff laboriously

Shlepping is carrying or hauling something, especially with effort or reluctance.

From Yiddish, the word suggests tedious transport—dragging bags, lugging groceries, moving boxes: I spent the morning shlepping furniture up three flights of stairs.

To shlep somewhere is to travel there tediously: We shlepped all the way across town for nothing.
