severability clause
Partial invalidity provision
A severability clause is a contract provision stating that if any part of the agreement is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
Also called a savings clause or salvatorious clause.
Standard in legal documents to prevent one flawed section from voiding an entire contract: The severability clause saved the deal when the non-compete was struck down.
