serenity prayer
Wisdom-seeking petition
The Serenity Prayer is a widely known prayer asking for serenity to accept what cannot be changed, courage to change what can be, and wisdom to know the difference.
Though attributed to theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, its origins are disputed.
The prayer is central to Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve-step programs: She recites the Serenity Prayer every morning.
