senior thesis
Graduating student's paper
A senior thesis is an extended research paper or project completed during the final year of undergraduate study, typically required for honors programs or certain majors.
It demonstrates a student's ability to conduct independent scholarly work: She spent months in the archives researching her senior thesis on Civil War photography.
The thesis usually involves original research, a faculty advisor, and a formal defense or presentation.
