semitransparency
Letting some light
Semitransparency is the quality of allowing some light to pass through while partially obscuring what lies behind.
Glass may have full transparency; a frosted window has semitransparency.
In digital design, semitransparency lets underlying elements show through: The overlay has 50% semitransparency.
