semi trucks
Big freight vehicles
Semi trucks are large commercial vehicles consisting of a tractor unit that pulls a detachable trailer.
The name comes from "semi-trailer"—the trailer has wheels only at the rear and depends on the tractor for front support.
Also called eighteen-wheelers, big rigs, or simply semis: A semi truck jackknifed on the highway.
