segregated education
Racially separated learning
Segregated education is schooling in which students are separated by race, ethnicity, or other characteristics into different institutions or facilities.
The term most often refers to the legally enforced separation of Black and white students in American schools before the civil rights era: The Supreme Court ruled that segregated education was inherently unequal.
Segregation may also occur through residential patterns or school district boundaries rather than explicit policy.
