secret family
Concealed other household
A secret family is a spouse and children whose existence is hidden from another family or the public.
The term typically describes men who maintain two separate households, keeping each unaware of the other: He had a secret family in another state for fifteen years.
Discovery usually brings scandal and devastation.
The phrase also appears more loosely for any hidden domestic life.
