sea cows
Dugongs and manatees
Sea cows are large, slow-moving aquatic mammals that graze on underwater vegetation—manatees and dugongs.
The name comes from their herbivorous habits and docile, lumbering manner.
The Steller's sea cow, a massive species once found in the North Pacific, was hunted to extinction within three decades of its discovery in 1741.
