scholarship award
Merit-based tuition funding
A scholarship award is money given to a student to help pay for education, typically based on academic achievement, athletic ability, financial need, or other criteria.
The phrase is somewhat redundant—scholarships are awards by definition—but appears in formal contexts: She received a scholarship award from the engineering department.
Often shortened to just scholarship.
