scale out
Grow by multiplying
Scale out means to increase capacity by adding more units rather than enlarging existing ones.
In computing, scaling out adds more servers to handle increased load, as opposed to scaling up (making a single server more powerful): We scaled out to twenty nodes during the traffic spike.
The approach distributes work across multiple smaller components rather than concentrating it in one larger one.
