concurrency control
Simultaneous access governance
Concurrency control refers to the techniques and mechanisms that manage simultaneous access to shared resources in computing systems, particularly databases.
When multiple users or processes attempt to read or modify the same data at once, concurrency control prevents conflicts, data corruption, and inconsistent results.
Common approaches include locking (preventing others from accessing data while it's in use), timestamps, and optimistic control (checking for conflicts only when committing changes).
The database's concurrency control prevented two customers from booking the same seat.
