run-flat tire
Deflation-tolerant wheel covering
A run-flat tire is designed to keep functioning after a puncture, allowing a vehicle to continue driving—typically at reduced speed for a limited distance—rather than going immediately flat.
The reinforced sidewalls support the car's weight even without air pressure: With run-flats, you can reach a service station instead of changing the tire on the highway.
Also called run-flats.
