robot dancer
Programmed movement artist
A robot dancer performs choreography that mimics the stiff, mechanical movements of robots—isolating body parts, moving in sharp angles, and creating the illusion of joints locking and unlocking.
The style emerged from funk and street dance in the 1970s.
The robot dancer popped and locked to the beat.
Someone called a robot dancer may also simply be a stiff, awkward dancer.
