retrying
Making another attempt
Retrying is attempting something again after a previous failure.
The word appears most often in computing, where systems automatically retry failed operations: The server is retrying the connection.
Outside technical contexts, the verb retry is less common than simply "try again," though courts do retry cases when earlier proceedings are invalidated.
