retinal exam
Back-of-eye check
A retinal exam is a medical examination of the retina—the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.
An eye doctor uses specialized instruments and often dilating drops to view the retina clearly, checking for conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, or retinal detachment: The ophthalmologist recommended a retinal exam after noticing changes in my vision.
