A1C
Blood sugar average
A1C is a blood test measuring average blood sugar levels over two to three months, used to diagnose and monitor diabetes.
The number indicates what percentage of hemoglobin proteins are coated with sugar—higher means poorer blood sugar control: My A1C came down from 8 to 6.5.
Also written HbA1c.
Separately, A1C is a US Air Force enlisted rank, short for Airman First Class.
