reshelving

Putting books back

Reshelving is the act of returning items to their proper places on shelves, typically books in a library: The librarian spent the afternoon reshelving returned materials.

The term applies anywhere items belong in designated shelf locations—stockrooms, warehouses, retail stores.

To reshelve can also mean to shelve something again after reconsideration: The project was reshelved after budget cuts.
