regressiveness
Moving toward earlier
Regressiveness is the quality of moving backward or returning to an earlier, usually less developed state.
In social contexts, it describes policies or attitudes that reverse progress: Critics attacked the regressiveness of the new voting restrictions.
In economics, a regressive tax takes a larger percentage from lower incomes than higher ones—the regressiveness of sales taxes falls hardest on the poor.
