registry offices
Civil wedding venues
Registry offices are government buildings where official records are kept and civil ceremonies performed.
In British usage, a registry office is where births, deaths, and marriages are registered, and where civil weddings take place: They got married at the registry office rather than in a church.
The formal term is register office, but registry office dominates in everyday speech.
