regifter

Gift chain participant

A regifter is someone who gives away a gift they received from someone else, passing it off as a new present.

The practice carries a whiff of cheapness or insincerity, though it's sometimes defended as practical: She's a notorious regifter—I recognized that candle from two Christmases ago.

The verb is regift.
