red tent

Scarlet camping canopy

A red tent is a space where women gather for rest, reflection, or community—especially during menstruation.

The term comes from Anita Diamant's 1997 novel imagining biblical women's practices, and has since inspired real-world gatherings: The women's center hosts a monthly red tent circle.

The concept evokes feminine solidarity and reclaiming menstruation as sacred rather than shameful.
