recreational path

A recreational path is a trail or paved route designed for walking, jogging, cycling, or other leisure activities rather than motor vehicle traffic.

These paths wind through parks, along waterfronts, or connect neighborhoods: The recreational path follows the old rail line for twelve miles.

Also called a greenway, multi-use path, or rail trail when converted from former railroad corridors.
