rearguing

Making case anew

Rearguing is arguing again—presenting a case or position that has already been debated, often because a decision was unsatisfactory or new grounds have emerged.

In legal contexts, attorneys may petition to reargue a motion or appeal: The defense filed to reargue the suppression hearing.

More casually, it describes rehashing old disputes: We're not rearguing this tonight.
