raveled

Threads came loose

Raveled describes thread, yarn, or fabric that has become unwound, frayed, or tangled—edges coming loose, strands separating from the weave: a raveled sleeve, raveled threads at the cuff.

Confusingly, ravel can mean both to tangle and to untangle, so raveled may describe either state.

The British spelling is ravelled.
