rampancy
Growth beyond control
Rampancy is the state of being rampant—spreading unchecked or growing wildly out of control.
The word appears in discussions of disease, corruption, or anything proliferating beyond acceptable bounds: the rampancy of misinformation online, urban rampancy consuming farmland.
In the video game series Halo, rampancy refers to a form of AI madness where artificial intelligences become erratic and dangerous after thinking themselves to death.
