radical activism

Extreme political engagement

Radical activism is political engagement that seeks fundamental change to existing systems rather than incremental reform.

The radical distinguishes it from moderate approaches—radical activists may challenge underlying power structures, demand sweeping transformation, or use confrontational tactics: Her radical activism got her arrested at pipeline protests.

The term can be neutral, admiring, or pejorative depending on the speaker's politics.
