quarterly taxes
Periodic government dues
Quarterly taxes are estimated income tax payments made four times a year, typically by self-employed individuals and businesses whose income isn't subject to automatic withholding.
The IRS requires these payments to avoid penalties for underpayment: I set aside money each month so quarterly taxes don't catch me off guard.
Also called estimated taxes.
