Form 1040
Annual income declaration
Form 1040 is the standard U.S. federal income tax return filed annually by individuals.
The numbered form has been used since 1913, when the modern income tax began.
Most Americans who earn income must file a 1040 with the IRS by April 15: I finally finished my 1040 last night.
Variations include 1040-SR for seniors and previously 1040-EZ for simple returns.
