put ahead

Advance in position

To put ahead is to advance something's position or timing.

You might put a meeting ahead by rescheduling it earlier, or put one task ahead of another by prioritizing it.

In British usage, to put clocks ahead is to set them forward: We put the clocks ahead for daylight saving time.
