procurer
One who acquires
A procurer obtains things for others, often through questionable means.
The word carries a strong association with prostitution—a procurer finds clients for sex workers or recruits people into the trade: He was arrested as a procurer for the trafficking ring.
The female equivalent is procuress.
Outside this context, procurer simply means one who procures: a procurer of rare manuscripts.
