price checker
Store scanning device
A price checker is a device in retail stores that lets customers scan barcodes to see prices—typically a mounted scanner with a small screen: I used the price checker to see if the sweater was on sale.
The term also applies to employees who verify prices or to apps and websites that compare prices across retailers.
